2019 - 2020
Welcome to another year of school at Eisenhower. I have high expectations and goals for every student involved in the band program at EMS. Band members are expected to represent themselves, their parents, their teacher, their school and their community with pride and dignity. We are a class act at all times.

Assessments - Students will be assessed through playing tests, from their band book and concert music, and written tests on musical concepts learned in class. Playing tests will be submitted through the online Essential Elements Interactive portal. Students who miss a test deadline will be required to play it during the band class the next day. Essential Elements Interactive will be available for students, without internet service at home, to use before and after school and during their lunch. Students are allowed to retake any playing test during the grading period in which it was assigned. Students will be allowed to complete a playing test ahead of schedule. A list of playing test can be found at the end of this band handbook.
Class Work - Students are required to attend all performances. Students who miss a concert will be required to complete make-up work. All bellringers and worksheet will be returned and graded as complete or incomplete. Every student will have 5 minutes to get ready for class and complete the bell ringer or theory worksheet. Students need to come to class, ready to learn, with their instrument, binder, pencil and planner. Disruptive behavior will be dealt with according to the discipline plan listed below. No bathroom, office or locker passes will be issued until after warm-ups and only with their agenda passport filled out. Each student will be allowed 2 passes each quarter.
